War Memorial

War Memorial.

There is an oak tablet on the north wall in memory of the five men of the parish who fell in the Great War 1914-1918.

The cost, about £30, was raised by subscription from the parishioners and the unveiling ceremony was performed by Rev. H.S. Radcliffe, M.A. on June 20,1920.

(John and George Dix were brothers, two of the four sons of William and Susannah Dix of West Bilney; they also had a daughter. William was a farm labourer, as was John, before he joined up. He died aged 26, George was only 18.)

(Joseph Newman lived at Magpie Cottages, West Bilney, he was married and aged 36 when he died.)
