A BUILDING AT RISK
700 YEARS OLD - IN NEED OF REPAIR
Our beautiful church has been standing for700 years. It must be kept safe and sound for the use of all parishioners at regular services, baptisms, weddings and funerals.
The difficulties of maintaining a medieval building in good repair are great and the costs are high.
On 20th December 2013, All Saints Church was granted Heritage Lottery funding to repair the tower, the south porch, and to improve drainage and the heating and to make information about the church more accessible.Church members are very excited about this opportunity.The first stage was investigative; for example, the stone work in the tower is crumbling and the best method of preserving it had to be established. If all goes well, the second stage, the actual building works, will start in spring 2015.Heritage Lottery Fund will be contributing 82% of the costs, estimated at £237,420: the remainder has to be sourced from other charities and from local fundraising."
At September 2015 the necessary repairs and improvements to safeguard the church have been completed.

Work on repairing the damage commenced in May 2015. It is expected to take about six months to complete.

Parish church of C14 and C15 date with restorations in 1878 by Sir George Gilbert Scott. Constructed from rubblestone, carstone and part rendered. Slate roofs.
Masonry of the tower, south aisle, and chancel deteriorating badly. Ineffective ground drainage is making the interior damp and places the historic pews at risk. A grant application for all these repairs has been successful. Work is expected to begin in 2014 or 2015.
