The certificate, shown right, recognises the original document as being accepted by the War Department as constituting a valid will, it having been made "in actual military service"

John Robert Dix G/18014. 6th Bn., Queen’s Own (Royal West Kent Regiment) who died on 17 July 1917, Age 28 was the son of William and Susannah Dix of West Bilney

Pte J R Dix, Royal Kent Regiment, who was wounded while in France (a bullet broke his left arm and tore the muscle) has been home on a visit to East Winch after spending three months in hospitals in London and at Feltham.
Two of his brothers are now on foreign service – Pte Edward R Dix, Bedfords in France ( he was there gassed) and Pte George Dix Norfolk in Egypt (George Dix)
They are the sons of Mr and Mrs Dix of East Winch. Pte H Ash, Suffolks, a son-in-law of Mr and Mrs Dix is serving in Mesopotamia. Another son of Mr and Mrs Dix is in a munitions works.
