George Dix

From a Roll of Honour

Dix - Died from wounds. April 27th. 1917 in hospital in Cairo. Pte. George Dix, Norfolk, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Dix, West Bilney, in his 19th. year.

"He proudly answered his Country's call

He gave his life to spare us all,

His heart was good, his spirit brave,

He is laid to rest in a soldier's grave"

George Dix was born on 18 July 1898. His parents were William and Sussanah (nee LAST) who lived at West Bilney. He was baptised at St. Cecilia church, West Bilney, on August 28th. 1898.

Private George Dix - 240975 - died of his wounds on 27 April 1917 in Egypt.

He enlisted into the Army at East Dereham joining the Norfolk Regiment - 1st/5th. Battalion.
