West Bilney Pub

Do you remember the pub at West Bilney?

The White Horse Public House - West Bilney.

The only evidence that West Bilney once had a pub comes from the Freebridge Lynn licence register, when in 1789 Sarah Kiddle was licensee, and in 1794 James Kiddle.

A number of people recall mention of the pub, which would indicate that it remained open into the 19th century, and one former West Bilney resident said that it was just before the railway crossing on the A47.

A map of 1857 confirmed this was almost certainly correct as the field, adjacent to the suggested position of the pub, marked in pink on the map, and on the turnpike, is named Ale House Close.
