Libraries

Dear Library Customer

We are pleased to say that Norfolk Libraries will be re-opening their doors from Wednesday 2 December, offering the same services as we were before we went into the current lockdown. We are really looking forward to welcoming you back and have lots of great reading to see you through the holiday period - more details below. Please be assured that:

  • We will continue to renew your loans automatically until 3 January and no overdue charges will be applied in the meantime.
  • We will let you know if you have a reservation that is available for you to collect. Please check your account to make sure you are signed up for notifications.
  • We have detailed safety measures in place at every library. Please visit our website to find out more, or watch the video that we have uploaded to our YouTube channel.

In the new year we will be making some changes to help us return to normal from 3 January:

  • After this date, items will need to be renewed on or before the date they are due back. The good news is that each item can be renewed up to 12 times if it hasn’t been reserved by someone else.
  • We will be turning our email reminders back on to remind you when your books are due back, and if they become overdue. Please check your account to make sure you are signed up for email reminders.
  • You will be able to borrow a maximum of 20 books.

Please pass this information to your friends and family and thank you for bearing with us. Library staff would like to take this opportunity to send you season’s greetings and hope that you find some time for yourself over the holiday period to catch up on your reading.

Something to lighten the darker days

We’ll be reading Christmas-themed extracts at Reading Friends sessions online throughout December. Every Tuesday at 7pm, we’ll bring you a tale to lift your spirits and give you an opportunity to share your thoughts with others via Zoom. If you’d like to join in, email ‘Reading Friends’ to libraries.iconnect@norfolk.gov.uk and you'll be sent a personal invite. If you’re new to Zoom, we’ll also help you set things up on your computer, tablet or smartphone. Please visit our website to find more activities and all your holiday reading.

If you’d like to stay up to date with all the latest news from Norfolk Libraries, please sign up for our newsletter.
